ya’ll, before i was into abstract-ambient-deephouse-bassbased-idm-minimal-astronaut shit, i loved hip-hop instrumentals.  Madlib, J Dilla, Samiyam— the whole shebang.  well, as i grew older, i fell out of love with a lot of it, and slowly moved into other genres, which i’ve been more or less content with— until i stumbled onto Knxwledge on ElFamosoDemons’ youtube channel (which is a really great channel full of awesome music and great found footage videos that i recommend you subscribe to asap).  Knxwledge takes simple beats and loops and manages to give them all the upbeat soul and funk that can fit in a two minute song, resulting in music that is brief enough to long enough to leave you satisfied and brief enough to be played over and over, from start to finish.  this song, Exekutive, on his album  Klouds (are you noticing a theme here?), is a perfect example.  the first time i heard this tidbit, i had it in my head for the rest of the day, and it definitely put an extra spring in my step and smile on my face.  it’s happy, it’s fun— it’s Knxweldge, and i recommend you get some today.

this is the song i want playing as i captain my new battlecruiser, not to war, but on a mission peace (i have been reading a lot of military sci-fi lately, i think it’s bleeding into my writing).
